Yes, cool story BUT Chris is right as we heard about this adventure from Doug's mouth long before that auction write-up was ever published. Imagine the digging in those days ... and not just a cool story, the real deal.

Thanks for the info-I never doubted that the story was real. When I bought the bottles, I saved a copy of the auction listing so the background on how they were found would stay with them (I obviously don't know Doug or Glenn). Maybe someday I'll figure out a bit more about the bottles themselves...they do look very early.

I searched but couldnt find anything very early (which only means I didnt find anything).
I did read a german text that indicated that the medicine was invented in England (explaining the English name Dr White) and made in a german factory.

The first line basically says its 36 Kreuzer per bottle. A kreutzer was a small coin , like a dime, used in the southern german states at the time.
