dug a bottle with papers inside

I dug this bottle last weekend. It has some torn up papers and a cork stuffed inside.

I smashed the bottle (common abm) and salvaged the papers. They appear to be from different pages of a newspaper. One story refers to a woman who died in March 1922. Another piece has a partial title "...Years Ago" and the dates "July 4, 1898" below. Apparently this section was one of those "this day in history" articles, and is referring to events from 25 years ago.
So, it appears the newspaper is from the summer of 1923. The bottle was likely tossed then too, since everything found in this part of the dump has been from the 1920s or earlier.

Thats pretty cool Elmo, I've never found a bottle with papers in it. I wonder why they were there?

Very fun. You just never know what you're gonna find! That's one of the things that makes this hobby so fun!
Today I found a bottle from about 1910 full of pumkin seeds! I was pretty hungry out there in the woods, but I thought better of it in the end![]
