I left work early today and stopped at an old dump me and my diggin buddy were finding some good milk bottles in. I dug a bunch of ABM crap and an unembossed milk before I saw what appeared to be an aqua, blown bottle start to emerge. I could not believe it when it turned out to be a pontiled bottle! It is weekly embossed and has some significant ground wear but I still think it is better than digging a milk. I am heading out digging for the weekend with hunter2000...we are hitting a few of my old dumps and a couple he has up his sleeve as well. We will take some pics for you all.

Here is a pic of that pontil I scored today...

It has a nice off center pontil base...I still can't believe I dug it in a 1910-1920's dump????

LAte throws amaze me too. I dug a cobalt blue swirled scent 1800-1820 out of a 1910-1920 era dump. I still kick myself for selling that thing! Nice bottle!

Texasdigger---This one really surprised me. We have never dug a pontil from this place until now. It was the only "dig" I took home. The rest of the stuff I dug was absolute ABM CRAP...I was very surprised. Thanks for the reply.

Joe---Thanks man...you dug some great stuff out from under that old building...that looked like it was a great time. It just amazes me that pontils can be found in dumps that range from the 1890's to 1920's. I just can't believe they held onto stuff that long! CRAZY!

I'm sitting pretty on a nice town dump then. I've dug bottles ranging from 1870 to 1930 in here so far. Hopefully I'll hit a pocket of nice pontils like that gem you got there. That's a beauty. I just keep thinking that with every olive jar, hellman's mayo and ketchup bottle I toss that I'm one bottle closer to my next decent chunk of glass. Kinda like the amber cone I dug today.
