Found this one the other day. First time I have ever dug a demijohn. I believe it is a one piece mold with a tooled lip. There are no seams or pontil on the bottom. It will not stand up by itself. The bottom is too round.

This one was found in an area that usually has around 1920's bottles but even today they still burn stuff in the pit. I decided to try a different area of the pit and the bottle was found about 6 feet down in the ground in the middle of white ash. I also found a bottle with just the word Wampole on it. Perhaps this bottle is not that old because it is in very good condition considering it was found in burnt ash. If more photos are required to determine the approximate age of this bottle please let me know.

Hi Cryptic
To the best of my knowledge these contained Chianti and were often covered in wickerwork. I have dug them from TOC dumps & a bit earlier.

Dale is dead-on. Definitely a chianti bottle. They still make 'em that way. Probably not old, TOC at best.
