It warmed up pretty nice today, so I decided to stop by a lot after work tonight. I had probed out some dump fill there before, but hadn't had a chance to open up a good hole. It ended up being pretty shallow and full of busted up stuff, but there was alot of whole bottles comming out. The majority of it was common, unembossed stuff but I did manage to pull out a few good ones.

Here's a look after a quick rinse. I've got alot more cleaning to do to these after a good soaking. The jugs were laying side by side along with several others that were busted up bad. There was alot of rusted metal all around them. It's the first time I've dug two together like that. The big bottle is a med, Cuticura System of Blood and Skin Purification. It's the size and shape of a bitters.

I really like digging inks and samples so this was a fun one, Sanford's Free Sample Never Sold. It has a ground screw top.

The doll was a heartbreaker, but it was still a neat find. The head goes right back together with nothing more than a fine crack showing. I'm going to glue this one back together. It's rather large standing a five or six inches tall.
I didn't come anywhere near finishing this spot, so I'll be back for sure! I've got a busy week and won't be able to make it back till this comming weekend. Hopefully I'll find a good privy or cistern to get in! Chris

Nice finds man! Wish I could find some holes with whole crocks/jugs. Up here in Canada, that just doesnt happen! I dont know how common it is in the U.S to do that, but it is a rare occurance up here. The only place I have acctually heard of it happening is the dumps for bigger places like Toronto, and Hamilton.

Nice digs, Chris. Those jugs are sweet. There should be some more goodies there for you. ~Jim

Thanks. I don't dig alot of complete stoneware here in Kentucky and it's very rare for me to dig two whole pieces in one day. I definatly plan on going back and digging some more. There should be a cistern and some privies to find on this lot. I've got a busy week, but the weekend is looking good for an all day dig! Chris

Very, very nice! The Cuticura is an interesting variant. Can't beat the stoneware ... I would definitely go back to look for the doll arms.

Nice finds. I really like digging those jugs. I just dug a smaller size white one the other day in a swamp that bottle hunters have been digging for 30 years. Don't know how they missed it. It has a hair line crack that I may have caused squeezing it out of the Cypress stump it was jammed in. Do the jugs have any markings? Good luck with the rest of that dig. Thanks for sharing, Marvin
