I have been looking for one of these bottles for a while. I see them every so often but just recently got one. I believe this is one of the earliest bottles that Peter Fahrney made after he moved to Chicago. My thought is this was made right after the original factory was burned down in the great Chicago fire and was rebuilt in 1871.
It is embossed DR P. FAHRNEY'S BLOOD VITALIZER CHICAGO ILLS . Unlike the later bottles this one is aqua and has a crude applied lip. Note the odd abreiviation of Illinois.
The bottle is made in a very odd mold. The bottom is just barely flat enough for the bottle to stand upright. its hard to see in the photo but the bottle section of the bottle below the embossing appears to be made in a separate mold section. There is a horizontal seam below the embossing. I wonder what prompted this odd bottle design?

I'm not sure what to think of this mold. Its like a post mold that had a separate section on the bottom 1" or so. Wish I could get a better photo of the seam.

I'd call it an oval ten pin, and claim it as a new bottle category.

I have a later bottle from Fahrney in the same shape with a pine tree embossed down the front. I can see where the shape of mine originated in this bottle. It is a vitalizer as well. Cool bottle!

I think that Fahrney bottle with the plant on the back was made at the time of the centennial of the fahrney medicine business. I believe the plant is a century plant (agave) representing both the herbal nature of the medicine and 100 years of the company.
