I have been looking for one of these bottles for a while. I see them every so often but just recently got one. I believe this is one of the earliest bottles that Peter Fahrney made after he moved to Chicago. My thought is this was made right after the original factory was burned down in the great Chicago fire and was rebuilt in 1871.
It is embossed DR P. FAHRNEY'S BLOOD VITALIZER CHICAGO ILLS . Unlike the later bottles this one is aqua and has a crude applied lip. Note the odd abreiviation of Illinois.
The bottle is made in a very odd mold. The bottom is just barely flat enough for the bottle to stand upright. its hard to see in the photo but the bottle section of the bottle below the embossing appears to be made in a separate mold section. There is a horizontal seam below the embossing. I wonder what prompted this odd bottle design?
