I found a bottle that looks like it was cleaned with steal wool. Will tumbling get all the fine scratches off without hurting the embossing too much?

How much does it typically cost to have a bottle professionally tumbled?

Price depends but usually $20-30. Tumbling should get rid of any smaller scratches. LEON.

Embossed and ACL? That should also be taken into consideration.Personally I've never seen a finer gauge steels pad to do any damage to glass worth noting but either will destroy paint.

This is what I'm talking about. Look closely. It's loaded with fine scratches.

How do you get "factory" scratches? It has nice straw lines, but also a lot of fine scratching.

Straw Lines - is a new term to me. I can see them alright, but the term is not in my list and I would like to know what caused them. The posting didn't give enough information about how the jar was made. If it was hand blown, I can imagine one cause. If it was ABM made it would be more of a mystery. We will be on the road soon, so it may not be resolved for a while. RED Matthews

Here's a pic before & after of a Billy Coke bottle I tumbled a few years ago. It got rid of more then just scratches. It was pretty rough & beat up when I got it. LEON.
