All/Anyone -

Does anyone have a true embossed tipper ink?

I think tippers are great looking pieces, though not too many types out there...
But I've noticed that every one I've seen has been unembossed. Do embossed tippers even exist? If so, does anyone have a pic to share?

Thanks, and have a great long weekend,
~gp

p.s. - come to think of it, i have never seen one with an origonal label on it either...

Hey GP,

In my experience you wont find an embossed Tipper. These tended to be sheared lip (cheaply made) inks. embossing would have added cost so I believe that is why you dont see embossed ones. Of course I could be wrong...;o)

Thanks for the info BP!

That makes sense. I went back and looked at my collection and realized that of all my sheared lip pieces, only one is embossed - its an 8 sided green-grey blackwood ink.

There seem to be many names for different lip types (rolled, fired, sheared, ground, etc.) is there any where that they area all listed in one place?

GP,

Here is a pretty good site that lists the kinds of inks. Not a bad place to start.
