New to the collection is an open pontil Mexican Mustang Liniment. All four of the N's are backwards. Bottle is as clean as it get. Hope you all enjoy!

Wow that's a really nice one! I didn't realize Mexican Mustang Liniment went that far back. And the error makes it even better.

Main ingredient was crude petroleum oil. Reminds me of "The Wizard of Oz", tin man - oil, oil.

One thing was that it was not made in Mexico. This one dates from the 1840's. Thanks buddy.

First introduced in 1825 by George W. Westbrook of St. Louis, Missouri. By 1856 the right to manufacture Mexican Mustang Liniment was passed to the partnership of Demas Barnes & Co. of New York.

The Boston Medical and Surgical Journal (1852, Vol, 47, pp 466-67) describes a case where a man thought he took Mexican Mustang Liniment, and felt much better. But as it was the middle of the night, he could not see what his wife was administering to him. In the morning they discovered that she had grabbed a bottle of ink by mistake- had rubbed it on him and given him a nice spoonful to drink too.
