So a four piece mold would be like four quarters fit together instead of the normal two halves? Meaning, it would have 4 seams down the side?

Not quite, there would be two side seams and one seam going around the bottle at about shoulder height, the 4 piece comes from the area where the two seams meet forming a cross, Which would happen on both sides of the bottle, thereby dividing the bottle into four pieces, confusing and not very exact, but it has been used by collectors for years
