I stopped by a local estate sale today and they had some bottles for sale. Picked up a light blue, not cobalt, corked top Milk of Magnesia $5, a flask $5 and a Millville Atmospheric Fruit Jar $20. Quart size missing the lid. There were a couple more bottles I would have liked but if I wait till tomorrow it's 50% off. One is a Smalley Mason Jar. Pat. Date 1896. It would be $15 tomorrow and a Walton Apothecary bottle. Pat date is 1862 on it and has glass stopper. That one would be $15 also. Would that be a good buy? The Walton Apothecary bottle is just like the one in pic without the label.
Thanks

Those are high prices for fairly common bottles. You can find Millvillles for $40.00, with the closures and not stained, at bottle shows. The Smallys are listed in my Red Book for $10. -20. If it is something you want for yourself, go for it, but not as an investment. I don't think there are any collectors for unlabeled Apothecaries.

I'd say with the correct closure that Millville jars are worth $~75. At least that's what they seem to sell for on ebay currently. $40 would be about right or one without a lid and closure, so $20 isn't too bad. The other two are probably about retail.

Cool. I saw your Millville in post. Nice and clear with lid. The flasks you found are awesome. I don't usually go out and buy bottles. Almost all the ones I have I found or were given to me.

Mainly I dig them and have them given too, but sometimes I notice good deals I can't pass up. This is especially the case when it comes to local or hard to find bottles that I likely won't find.
