Finds at the Amish School Auction

Saturday was the annual Amish school auction over near Dover Del. Spent all day in the on again off again cold rain and wind. Really didn't expect them to hold it but they have never canceled in all the years and they didn't this year. Not a lot of people and I expected to find some bargans. Picked up a bunch of canning jars one was a Climax from 1908, and found some toc bottles one really nice Schenley flask it's a not to be reused bottle but very nice. First picture shows some of the wagons with auction stuff.

The rain caused a lot of mud especially over where the cars and trucks were parked. A lot of people were stuck and had to be pulled over to the main road. Here is another picture of the parking area for the Amish buggys

How cool - I'm very intrigued by the Amish lifestyle in general - I grew up in a small town - and love the sense of "community" that comes with that...the only "community" activities we have around here are the "neighborhood watch" programs (I almost put LOL - truth is it is very sad)...I digressed momentarily...

All that to say how cool it would have been to go to this! Even cold and wet - I bet you had a great time! I was curious about the bigger jar (I had said ~in your box~but I guess it is ~next to~ your box) - what is that?

...and if you have any more pics I would love you to post them!

YEP TINNA WE HAVE A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH TOO AND AM GLAD OF IT! THINGS HAVE SETTLED DOWN A LITTLE ,BECAUSE OF IT! MOSTLY NICE NEIGHBORS,BUT YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING BOUT ONE BAD APPLE![OR 5 OR SO ![]]



YES THOSE ARE SOME COOL PICTURES! WOULD LOVE TO BE AROUND THOSE PEOPLE,THEY ARE SOMETHING ELSE! WHEN THAT GUY WENT INTO ONE OF THERE SCHOOLS AND KILLED SOME KIDS,THE AMISH PEOPLE REACHED OUT A LOVING AND FORGIVING HAND TO THE KILLERS FAMILY! NOW THAT IS REAL CHRISTIANITY AND HAS TO BE HARD TO FORGIVE AFTER THAT!
