just found this bottle when i was on a walk along a road that goes to some cottages and is near a lake . it was under some leaves and near some old rusty cans .
its the first time i have found a 7 up bottle that has embossed " 7up " on the neck and bottom . i did some web searching and it appears this bottle was only used during 1937 or late 30's . that date makes sense as i know that property where i found it had been bought by a group from toronto around that year who surveyed it for lots but never built the development this must of been left over by them .

is also has an unusal back read " a fresh up drink "
" for the stomachs sake do not stir or shake "
" you like it it likes you "
" contents 7 fl ozs "
" carrying the 7- up trade mark "
' this bottle must not be used for any other drink "
" 7up ( ontario ) limited Toronto "

Cool find!

1. Does the label have 7 or 8 bubbles? If 8, then likely 1938 or earlier.

2. If possible, please post a sharper picture of the base, or describe the makers mark or any numbers - letters - symbols found there.

Thanks.

"READ ALL ABOUT IT"

Cecil Munsey Link ...

http://cecilmunsey.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Click on search tool in upper left corner.
Then enter the key words Seven Up (But don't use 7up)
Then look for article number 107 - Seven Up Relics.

I have met Cecil once and consider him the world authority on 7up.

it does have 8 bubbles , there is 8 above the lady and 8 in area above trade mark .

as for the bottom it has the 7up logo and a c in a triangle above it and 1 on bottom .

i have a book that lists all the soda pop manufactures in ontario from 1931-1961 , it lists 7 up as starting production in Toronto , Ontario in 1937 . so i'm thinking this bottle is likely the first 7 up bottle used in canada . there is earlier examples in the states i realise but that seems to be when it started here .

whats funny is i walked by the spot where i found this bottle hundreds of times over the years , it was only about 8 feet off the main road near our bush lot property . it proves you just never know what is still out there even in places you've checked before .

Thanks. I don't know anything about Canadian soda bottles but I do know you found an early one. The earliest acl 7up in the U.S. is 1935.
