Wendy, definitely not dangerous unless one backs into you by accident. I feed the largest one by hand as she has become quite tame. However they can be a pain when I am washing bottles at night as I soak bottles in those bins in the background, and they come round the corner, see me & then panic ~ very noisily [] !

Thanks, Jim. This is Shaggy, poking her nose through the wiring. (The wiring, incidentally, is to stop baboons & other small critters, from sneaking in through the trellis door !)

Too cool! I have removed quills from dog's faces before. Poor critters are so scared when the dogs come at them I bet!!! I came across this video when I searched them because I don't know a lot about them, apparently they like to eat rubber?
