They mostly have Berlin, Schutzen Str (Strasse?) No 9. The crude nature and many shades of amber is appealing. Some went a little more green later on with the ABM bottles. WWI probably stopped the import/export for a time.

Yes STR means Strasse. My two bottles are from the same Gilka corporation. Maybe they didnt send this kind to the US.

That's what I thought.
I use to sing carols in German as a child and took a year of German in high school but I remember more from Hogan's Heroes that both of those combined. [][]

About Gilka's bottle - I have something new in my collection. The shape is 'old looking', I think 1890-1900.

Gilka bottles are a nice collection although quite large. They were made over a long period of time and in a lot of shades of Amber and various embossing patterns. Some are VERY whittled. I have 2 in my collection. BTW, you can load 3 images at a time and that is the preferred way to do it. Jim
