We found these a few weeks ago and thought them to be pill bottles.

While cleaning some usable vintage lids from the same dig, we recovered a lid with a partial logo that appears to be a tobacco advertisement, and perfectly fits one of the amber jars.

Tobacco jars are amber, so it's probable that they are both tobacco jars rather than pill bottles since a tobacco jar lid does fit the thread top jar.

The Compression Lid jar is an Anchor-Hocking item, and becomes our first antique that we have dug come January 1st. As of January 1st it becomes a 100 years old.

Big Grin.

Pretty cool. I think I've seen a few of these jars and just assumed them to be novelty canning jars I suppose. Both of these jars are from the 1940s.
