Sure has been a dry few weeks for finding new vet bottles for my collection. I did get this one off eBay last week. Actually I am not even sure it is a vet bottle.
It was listed as a copy cat of Glover's mange remedy and sure looks like it could be. On the other hand it could be a human remedy bottle since humans get mange too.
I have tried to look up information on this guy but have not had any luck. Any one out there know anything about him or the La France Chemical Company of Cleveland, Ohio? The only La France I can find is the fire engine maker.
The bottle is embossed: J. L. GOLGERS ROYAL SCALP AND MANGE REMEDY THE LA FRANCE CHEMICAL CO. CLEVELAND, OHIO.

Saw that on ebay and thought about bidding on it. It's a nice bottle.

It was a mange cure for animals. If it were for humans it would say Scabies. They are both caused by itch mites and mange meds were commonly used of any animal that got it including humans.

I was just reading a Glovers Mange remedy ad yesterday and it was all directed towards humans. Claimed to take care of mange and dandruff in peoples' hair.

Melinda,
I saw the bottle on ebay and tried to look for info on the web.
I did find one reference to the LaFrance company but it did not
tell me anything about what the company produced. I have never seen or
heard of anything else from that company. I would consider that the medicine
was sold for man and beast (dog), just as Glover's sold theirs for human scalp and
dog mange. Most likely it tilted toward dog and was sold to people as an aside.

I was surprised to find that ad for Glovers the other day that talked about the human use. I had just not thought about it being used by humans, but I guess at that time it was "share and share alike".
