I recently picked up a bottle (brown/medium amber in color) with a Baltimore loop top and a turn mold design that has an 'HB' (or I guess it could be 'H8') on the bottom, within a square, impressed area. I'm guessing it may either be a beer or soda bottle, but I can't find any information on what the 'HB' stands for or the origin/age of the bottle. Any helpful info would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Not going to be a turn mold bottle with an embossed base. More likely a dip mold if there are no side seams, or a cup mold if there are.

Yes, with me being new to this, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, so thank you for the correction. [:)] The bottle doesn't have a seam and does show circular (horizontal) lines all up and down the outside (which made me think it was a turn mold). Just inside the top, there is an indented space around the inside of the rim. I've enclosed a picture of the outside of the bottle, if that helps. Thanks again.

Are there any seams from the shoulder up toward the top ? Maybe very light seams, or "ghost seams" ? Hard to be sure, but looks like a 3-piece mold from the pic, which is basically a dip mold from the shoulder downward, and a two-piece neck mold toward the top. I guess technically though, it would be a "4-piece" if you count the embossed base cup. On dip molds or so-called 3-piece molds, you will usually be able to tell where the top of the mold ended just below the shoulder under the neck. There may be a distinct horizontal mold seam there, or just a very slight variation in the "direction" of the glass or even the surface texture between the lower mold and the upper mold or "free-blown" area if a true single piece dip mold. From the color and general shape of the bottle, I would bet it's a beer. Hope this helps.....
