I am new to this forum but not to collecting bottles. I became hooked when I dug up my first one in my backyard while gardening. This past weekend I purchased a garbage barrel full of bottles for $5. I like to display but now I am interested in where they came from. This one is nice to me but I cannot find anything online about it.

It says registered at top, Geo B Hugo & Co, trademark with a symbol in the middle. Then it has the address 147-151 Shawmut Ave Boston Mass. 12 1/2 fluid ounces.
Is it actually worth anything or just another pretty bottle for my window collection? Hubby does not get my love of bottles..LOL

Thanks for any help and I am glad I found this forum.

Here is the bottle I dug up from my yard. It is bluish in tint, has bubbles in the glass, no lines on the sides, no markings at all. I am surprised it survived me digging to plant in the garden.

Here is another garbage barrel bottle.

It says on front Dr. W.B. Caldwell`s Syrup Pepsin. One side says Pepsin Company, the other side says Monticello, Illinois. It is also bluish. Has lines on the sides and a diamond shape on the bottom.

Most likely an olive oil, looks like you have a bunch of food stuff. Explore the BLM site to get an understanding of bottles in general. After a while most of us collect a certain type of bottle soda, whiskey, meds, poisons, etc. or local stuff. Welcome to the forum.

oops just saw the Dr. Caldwell here's a site for common bottles to stay away from if you're buying.

Last one for now.

It says Bromoseltzer Emerson Drug Co. Baltimore, MD

Thank you for the help and I am definitely going to do more reading about this so I can figure them out on my own.

HEY YOU DID GREAT FOR $5 AND STARTING OUT! WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE. I have started three bottle collections just by going to the local dump and getting the bottles no one else wanted! I loved them! Many of these "COMMON" bottles are as old as the BIG TIME BOTTLES"! I love history and the common bottles were the common man and womans everyday life .I LOVE THEM BECAUSE I AM A COMMON PERSON TOO! YEAH I WANT THE EXSPENSIVE BOTTLES TOO,NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE PRICEY ,BUT THEY ARE A LOT OF TIMES THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOTTLES.{NOT ALWAYS TO ME ,BUT BEAUTY IS IN THE HEAD OF THE BEHOLDEN] JAMIE
