trying to get date of this bottle, embossed---THE GREAT ATLANTIC & PACIFIC TEA COMPANY, NEW YORK, SEAMS STOP 1/4 INCH BELOW LIP, appears to have threaded neck
I agree on a salad dressing bottle. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co is better known today as A & P Supermarkets, and there are several variants of embossed bottles out there, but yours is one that I've never seen before, so it may be a scarcer one.
Nice one bob, it could be a salad dressing bottle. Several years ago I had a fairly comprehensive A&P collection, many bottles with labels, that was one that I had with a salad dressing label. A friend had found one that had pepper sauce in it still, but it had no label. The threads are part of the mold design. Is the lip refired or ground?

My dad is the president of the A&P Historical Society. Shoot him an email at artnfacts08@aol.com. Tell him Matt directed you to him. He has a bunch of this bottle with labels. I'm pretty sure they contained various product. Share whatever info he says! Matt
