I have a 'sperm oil' bottle that's very similar. Odd name! I believe it may have been to oil small machines and perhaps sewing machines? Or perhaps a pharmacy bottle?

Could be any number of things, medicine, flavoring, or as Ann mentioned, sperm oil. Hand blown, tooled top dating from 1890-1910 and blown at Chattanooga Bottle & Glass Mfg. Co.

I have a couple of Sperm Oil bottles and they are sewing machine oils as you have mentioned.
