Here are a couple of references -- Dr. Thomas H. Hood's 1880 census record, druggist, a death notice, 1900, and notices from the Knights of Pythias and the Masons, from newspapers.com. He died young, about 51 years of age -- of apoplexy -- a stroke, I suppose. Possibly afflicted with a condition for which the druggists of that time had no useful remedies, eg hypertension.
