I have searched many sites and have yet to see anything like this jug. Bottom mark is "Daniel Visser & Zonen Schiedam 1714" surrounding a stallion on hind legs. If anyone could let me know some info. History? Repoduction? Value?
Welcome to the Blue Pages, and thanks for showing us the Genever.
How'd you come upon it? We wanna see some more photos, in daylight if you got some, please. Of the base, the neck and the stopper, too. I'm thinking a commemorative. The company went out of business in 1971, after a Long History.
Welcome, I'm guessing that's about when it was made also.
I'm thinking it's pottery but the handle (if that's the handle on this) looks translucent, like milk glass. Which is it?
Here are some better photos i hope. Thank you for the input. I saw a date on bottom but assumed it was a newer item. The cork might have been replaced but it looked too new. I found it wrapped and packed in boxes with a collection of early 19th century bottles. I do not know the previous owner.
