Help with old stove pol. bottle

I have a bottle with raised lettering on the surface. It reads "J. S. Prescott & Company Liquid Stove Polish New York" the bottle requires a cork or stopper. Does anyone know anything about. Value, age, date of manufacture, anything would be helpful. It might read "J.C. Prescott" instead of "J.S." I don't remember, it's put away.
