Found this little guy on the left recently… I like it… it sits nicely next to the big guy on the right in my kitchen window… I have some questions about it though… It stands about 7 1/2" tall and has an applied lip... what is it first off? what did it contain? What is it’s color called? (I call it reddish amber, is that right?) and lastly it’s base has what looks to my uneducated eye a pontil mark of sorts.. is it? and if not what process made that mark? Thank you kindly

generally speaking that is a porter form I think.
I have seen many in that form used for malt extracts.
I wouldnt call it a demijohn.
Its smooth base.

I have been thinking about why there tends to be corrosion on the base of the molds so often.
It may be because this is the hottest place on the mold. The high heat eventually destroys the mold surfaces.
Also the same base plate may be used for many molds with different embossings on their side sections.
