I remember an old bottle magazine that had an article about a 50 state hutch collection. All of them were state capitals I believe.

The hardest part will be getting the territory bottles (pre state formed hutchinsons) If you chose to pursue that, it will cost a fortune! The last UIT (Utah Indian Territory) hutch I saw was three years ago for over $400!

Cheers, Mike

I attempted a fifty state capital hutch collection one time and never succeeded with it because there were no hutches from a few of the state capitals.

Those Thomas Patents are nice and only about 30 bottlers ever used them, I have the only one known from Paterson ans the guru would like to have it I'm sure... Good luck on the rest Mike, you should make a list of those you still need... Unless you want to do all the hunting on your own[;)]

No they all say that but they are Thomas Patents...

Thomas or Thasmo Closure, circ: 1895-1905, Occurs on 28 bottles,
Invented by: Frederic R. H. Thomas,
American Patent: April 23, 1895, Number:
537,946,
American Patent: December 10, 1895, Number:
551,102,
This closure was another improvement to the glass ball stopper that sealed against a rubber disk in the lip of the bottle. The improvement was that the marble jammed in the shoulder of the bottle when the contents were poured out.
