I met him years ago when he was a serious collector (it seems hard to imagine a day in his life when he wasn't). He was at the Guernsey Barn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a very personable man and could tell you a whole lot of stories about the old bottles.

Hi Mike ,
I personally never met Charlie....I have owned a few of his bottles in the past from his collection ! He did a lot for the hobby and quite possibly had the greatest bottle collection ever amassed ! If not the greatest .... then definetly in the top 3 or 4 .
I would have loved to see his collection in person....before it was sold at auction.
I have met a owner of another great collection..... the late Judge MacKenzie out of Florida. His collection was unreal .... And he purchased a Flask from the Gardner sale that the Judge called his one million dollar Flask........As its purchase was the bottle that sent the Gardner sale over the one million dollar mark !!!
