I'm wondering if anyone has seen this one before, it surprised me at a bottle show. It's a paneled bottle with one side flat for a label and there is no embossing except for the bottom. My curiousity made me pick it up and check the bottom. I'm guessing nobody else gave it a look as it sat around for hours before I found it. Bottom pic to follow. It pays to check closely sometimes.

Didn't expect to see this on the bottom. Has anyone seen one of these out there?

In case it is hard to make out, the embossing reads: SEARS ROEBUCK & CO CHICAGO

Hey Kilroy,

Welcome to this place. I know you've been almost everywhere. I really like your find. Here's the 1897 Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalog via Google Books. Please look in or around page 40. My computer does not like google books so it will not display the pages. I searched and found some remedies on page 34, but they will not display for me. Now all you've got to find is the Monkey, Ward version. Nice find!

ya, Sears had its own generic clones of all the popular quack meds of the day.
They even had a BBB with a different name. Guess when you were a big player you didnt get sued as much.

Surfaceone, I agree with epackage, great link. Thanks for posting it and the welcome. I thought a medicine from Sears was an odd concept but looking back it makes sense now, they sold everything else. I couldn't get a good picture showing the bubbly glass of the bottle, I guess it's time to set up a good picture box from some of the great advice I found in one of the posts on this site.

That one most likely contained Sears' "PEPTONIC STOMACH BITTERS". I have never seen Sears Roebuck & Co embossed bottle before, but have seen many of their cans and tins. Thanks for showing us that bottles do exist.

Very cool bottle.
The only thing I have from Sears & Roebuck is a 12 gage Stevens pump scatter gun. (shot gun) in min con.My dad bought it when he was a kid for 40 bucks.
