Thanks for the help,i guess that answers my question. What do you think on the date?1870S?As you can see there is a chunk of glass embedded in the base that is very sharp, its nice and crude and i like it alot.It has no embossing.....P.S. I dont need a photography coach surfaceone.[;)]

Well, Branden,

Perhaps a stand-in photographer, then.

I can take good pictures, there are just some things that are hard to photograph,an indented green bottle base with thick glass surrounding it being one of them,at least for me.

it could be an iron pontil.. is the lip applied? I'd like a better view of the finish.. your camera's autofocus will work better if you put the bottle on a piece of plain white paper, rather than a patterned surface. Invest in a sheet of white poster board.

Now hold the camera sideways, so there's more bottle and less background in the shot.. you can get closer, too..

I find one of the best ways to take pic's of potential pontils is to stand the bottle on it's head or lay it flat and let the "FLASH" do the work for you. It has given me my best results.....Then do some "CROPPING" for crying out loud !![8|]

I'm gonna suggest someone like you should lay the bottle on a flat surface and NOT on it's head...[:-]

Looks like a 1900s English Gin bottle. As such, it would not have been blessed with a pontil.
