I was at a small sale in Massillon, Ohio and instead of finding a local bottle, I buy this hutchinson. 'JAS. A. WEAVER / SAN AUGUSTINE TEXAS". It is in excellent condition. I know absolutely nothing about Texas bottles. Is it common? Are there a lot of blob sodas from Texas?

I love it, you don't get an opportunity to buy mint bottles like that every day. I'd email Ron Fowler about it (hutchbook(@)yahoo.com), he would know its rarity. His site says there's 743 hutches from Texas, so I don't think that alone would make it rare.

Nice hutch Ohio. Looks like the stopper got half removed. I wonder if you could carefully pull it out and then stick it back in correctly?

As far as the rarity goes, I have no idea, myself. Ron Fowler's rarity scale will be relative to how many examples are known. If collectors have seen many it will be more common, if it never turns up it will be considered more rare. But it seems like it might be a small town - which I think always helps. Plus, who doesn't love minty? Nice find.

Yes, there are over 700 different hutchinsons from Texas. This is not a common one. I am interested in this bottle and sent you an email, Rob. Please let me know if you want to sell or trade it.
And yes, carobran, many of the Texas bottles do have TEXAS spelled out. Some are abbreviated TEX. None say TX.

It's always a good idea to pick up something that's in that condition. Nice find.

Rob I have not seen many Hutches around here that clean and in that pristine condition!! Usually they are chipped or have lots of wear or at least stain!!! Very nice find no matter where it is from!!! Did not know there was that many hutches from Texas but it makes sense as I believe that is the time when sodas really started to take off here!!! Hope you and Jay are able to make a deal and then maybe I might have a chance to at least see it in person when he comes up to Austin again!! HH Ace
