Its been said if you've seen one hobbleskirt that you've seen them all. And even though this may be true in some respects, because of the huge variety of different city/states and wide range of dates (1917 to 1957), the fully embossed hobbleskirt continues to be one of the most talked about and collected bottles in the world.
The one pictured here is a mint condition patent 1915 from Scranton, PA., which was made and distributed by the Root Glass Company in 1917. (Although the first hobbleskirts were patented in 1915, they were not distributed on the open market until 1917).
Soon after purchasing this bottle I contacted Jeff Dean about it (Jeff is the grandson of Earl Dean who designed the hobbleskirt/contour bottle in 1915) and Jeff said his grandfather was still working at Root Glass in 1917 as the mold shop foreman/bottle designer and was most likely there the day this bottle was made.
I currently have 152 different cities, mostly from the south and I know it would be very difficult to get all 1500 of them like Bill Porter, but it sure is fun to try and at only a few bucks, you won't spend an arm and a leg.
