I picked up these two Keene New Hampshire glass hats recently. One is from Mike George with the Keene sticker attached to it.I believe this hat is from the 1830 to 1840 time period as the style and crudity warrant such an assessment. The color green on each hat shows the Keene New Hampshire qualities and traits. The second hat is also from Keene as stated by its previous owner an antique dealer in New Hampshire. This hat was made a little later at Keene. The time period around 1850 would be a better guess. The one from Mike George has a very whittled look to the bottom near the pontil mark. Both hats are in excellent shape also as they were each well cared for. These end of day glass items are rare in a sense as compared to daily production.I really enjoy these glass hats as they are truly unique in the glass collecting field and represent the artistic ability of the Gaffers that made them. The first three pictures are of Mike Georges hat.

Picture number 3.You can make out the small stickers on the bottom.Mike George stated in his sale of this hat that it had pretty solid Keene attribution to it.
The pontil on this hat is amazing.

The second hat is slightly newer with a manufacture date of around 1850.The color is slightly less green then the previous one.

Are these full size hats Steve ? Back in the eighties I bought a glass hat at an auction one evening . I do not know if it was an end of the day piece or not . I want to say it might have been made by Blenko , but have no idea if that is correct , there were no labels or markings on it . It was full size , even had a glass hatband and feather on it molded onto it . It actually fit my head as if you were wearing an actual hat , thought it was cool , but sold it , had no idea as to what the value might have been . It was the only glass hat I have ever seen , except for the ones you have posted . I find them quite interesting . Thanks for posting them .

Hey Stephen When these do pop up on eBay I try to grab them quickley as surprisingly they dont sell that fast and you can usually make a good offer for one. Most of my collection has been found at auctions.
