I was going through some of my storage bottles the other day, which includes some that are broken, chipped, faded, etc. and found this Kolowine bottle. I don't remember where I acquired it or when. It was produced for a very short time by Cheerwine. I collect Cheerwine, and its forerunner, Mint-Cola.
I found a thread from years ago about Kolowine and someone mentioned there were two types, even in the short time it was bottled. I have seen a couple of the "shield-shaped" labels for sale over the years, but I haven't seen the one I have which is very faded.
Someone said they thought it may have been made in 1941, but in researching it, I found a local North Carolina newspaper ad that mentioned it on September 21, 1937. Funny thing is, the ad calls it "Kolawine" rather than "Kolowine."
I have attached a photo of the shield label bottle that I found online, and one of my faded bottle. Also the ad that I found. Must be very rare. I just thought I would share the info I found on the date of this drink.
