Greetings y’all! So awhile back I posted about a Coke bottle I had found here in New Orleans… I encourage you to check out the post if you haven’t seen it, it was quite the epic discussion. So I have come across another bottle—from the same lot in fact—that has been puzzling me. Looking back on first discussion there are some posts about G20 bottles, which is what I have as well. However, unlike the ones discussed previously mine has a blank bottom, i.e. no City/State. Has anyone seen one coded like this w/out city/state before?

That is a good one. 1915 bottle. Some more knowlegable Coke people will chime in for sure.

Hi, Ivy

As you probably know, the 576 G20 indicates a Graham Glass Co. bottle made in 1920. I looked around and all of the examples of similar bottles I could find had the City/State embossed on the base. However, I don't know how unusual or rare it was for any Graham bottle not to have the City/State. Possibly the only way to determine that is to examine dozens of Graham bottles and see what turns up. I will do some more looking around and let you know if I find anything of interest.

Here's one example of a Graham No City/State bottle marked 576 EG 25 from their Evansville plant and made in 1925. Even though this is not the same bottle as the one in question, it does tell us that there are other patent 1915 Coca Cola bottles with blank bases. I'm not exaggerating when I say if there are two blank bottles then there are possibly two-million blank bottles. Especially when you take into account the five year time period between Ivy's bottle and this one.

I don't know much more then Bob does about that one. No names on bottom I don't think are to rare on their earlier bottles. I would think a no name Coke Bottle from 1915 or from any year would be worth way less than one with a name, because most people like to collect certain town & certain towns from 1915 are much rarer than others, Like Detroit for example, these are much tougher in 1915 then most other 1915 Michigan towns & usually get $100+ in good condition. some common 1915 hobble skirts may only get $10-$20. Not sure of any that would get $300, may be a couple. Just my opinion, others may vary? Leon.

Ok, thanks, I was under the impression that all bottles were supposed to have the city/state embossing after a certain point (1920 maybe?) but guess there were some sold without.
BUT, I do have another thing to add to the original Hobbleskirt post. I found a second bottle (well, most of a bottle, it’s missing the top) also embossed with only 576EP. Pics are below. But, along the lines of what Bob said above, if there are two then there could be two million… not really, but my point is that a second bottle shows the first wasn’t simply a misprint or mistake, they were intentionally made like that. Which means….what exactly I’m not sure.
