Since we all have soda pop collectibles in common, I thought it might be fun to see what else everyone got for Christmas. But this is no intended to distract from the ongoing Secret Santa thread. For many of us those items are certainly some of our most treasured and favorites. But this thread is for all the "other soda stuff" that I'm sure many of us received ... like bottles - books - go withs - and any variety of other soda related items.

For me it was this 2003 Third Edition copy of Allan Petretti's "Soda Pop Collectibles Price Guide." I have been wanting it for some time now and haven't been able to put it down since I unwrapped it this morning. It was a gift from my older brother (who collects sports cards) but who is well aware of my interest with soda pop stuff. Thanks Bro, you did good and I love it!

The book has 495 pages of everything imaginable that is soda pop related. It even has a list in the back of hundreds if not thousands of soda pop brand names - many of which I have never heard of before and are obsolete now. I may be referring to it from time to time in the future on other threads.

I look forward to seeing all of those other treasures that turned up under the Christmas Tree this morning. This should be fun. [:D]

Thanks ... and Merry Christmas to all!

I'd like to start out by showing off this intimidatingly good-looking bottle of root beer, which I'm afraid to open because it will probably instigate a hastily arranged road trip to acquire more of them! I got this from a very kind fellow last week.. looks like the bloke in the pic up there.. [;)]

I am always interested in any Far Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana) bottle and got this one from Spokane, WA which is 40 miles away. It is supposed to be VERY RARE according to Ron Fowler's 1983 book on WA state sodas and I haven't seen it before so I don't know if it's still that rare. It is a SPOKANE CIDER / ADAM WEISER (should be WIESER) / WORKS. It's colorless.

Anyway, I like it regardless of the fact that it's bashed on the base. It is hand tooled, so circa 1905.

Belated Merry CHRISTmas to you all from a new subscriber to this forum.

botlguy ~

Welcome to the forum.

Totally cool bottle. Plus, I just had to let you know that I once lived in the Spokane area back in the mid 1970s and used to work at Linder's Lodge. Which you may know is along the highway going up to Mt. Spokane State Park and the ski areas. I used to do a lot of bottle hunting along that old road and still have many of them. But most are acls though, and nothing as old or rare as yours.

Thanks for sharing.

Ya better sample that Mr. D'z Root Beer. I may be going back up to Kingman, Arizona one of these days where I bought it, and I will get some extra six packs if necessary. I just know yore gonna like it! Only bummer is they cost $12.00 per six pack, with shipping to boot!

P.S. The Mr. D'z is a twist off cap, so don't make the same mistake I did and use an opener on it! Lol
