Ladies & Gentlemen......lets try and solve a glass house riddle. The following picture on my bottle shows what probably is a maker's mark but may not be. In David Whitten's excellent web page on maker's marks seen here :
http://www.myinsulators.com/glass-factories/bottlemarks.html there is a similar picture. As stated this acorn mark is seen on unembossed pharmacy style bottles. Has anyone seen one on an embossed bottle or one that still has the paper label?

Maybe we can narrow the geographic area down a little. My bottle, shown below was dug on my property in Delta, PA. If you've dug a similar one, what state was it in?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve, there's an embossed bottle, with the acorn mark, on eBay with Eugene May, Druggist, New Orleans. Seller in Arkansas doesn't know whodunnit, either. :-(

bump. I should fix that Dave's site doesn't say unembossed prescription/medicine but does say clear glass prescription/medicine. Nobody else has dug one of these?

Me and Ben have dug them in Connecticut, no clue as to where they were blown though.... If I remember correctly Ben dug a couple square ones, clear...

Yeah I never knew why I kept it but I saw it on the glass producers page and was looking for one. Tigue and I found this in the only pontil area of the dump. We can dig some holes but the digging got harder when pontils were about. So I would anticipate that it is very close to the pontil era b/c there was a good mix of ponitls (peppersauce), early hinge mold Hartford sarsaparrilas, and the chestnut bottle. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ben and Matt. So far all clear med type bottles, one with embossing, many styles, found from Conn. to New Orleans. Maybe we could find out who this guy ordered his bottles from.
