Hello everyone, I am a new member of this forum and would like to see if anyone can help me identify a bottle I found this weekend 100 feet off shoreline (in about 10 feet of water) in Boynton Beach, FL (southeast Florida). It looks old, no side mold seam that I can see, a "drip" of extra glass coming down off top of bottle opening near finish. Some bubbles inside glass, a dark green color, a rough bottom and no embossing or other markings on the bottle. All of which lead me to believe it is old, just would like to get approximate age, what was inside, manufaturer, etc....
As of now my pictures are too large to post, but if anyone would like to look at some pictures to help me identify it, please email me at chernetc@gmail.com and I can email photos that way. Thanks in advance of any help you can privide!!!

- Chad

Hey, I don't click email addies but all you have to do is crop and re-size. Just go to the help section at the top of the forums page and find the topic or follow the instructions that came with your camera or hosting service. It should be no problem..

Looks to be a wine/spirits bottle Chad, 1870-90's I would think, the experts on this type of bottle will chime in I'm sure..Jim

Hi, I think I see the "sloppy glass" on the left side under the finish. This tells us it is a mouth blown bottle with an applied finish glass that was tooled to form and the extra glass was pushed down on the neck by the tool. I am sure it was probably wine - or some other drinking pleasure. RED Matthews

In my opinion it is definitely liquor related, I'm thinking more Whiskey or Whisky like Scotch or Irish. The top / finish has that look. If American that drippy top would indicate, as Red said, 1860 - 70, if Scotch or Irish it could be that early or a little later.

Not valuable but still a nice find. I recommend leaving it just the way it is, you won't improve it's value by cleaning it more. Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
