An acquaintance found this while walking in the woods. She asked that i helo find some info about it. The only thing I have found so far is that the Mexia Bottling Works started in 1909 or 10. Can any Texas soda collectors give me more info? If I can help her with this one, she will tke me to where she found it. She also had found some BIM medicines and households with a lot of the labels left.

WestKYdigger,
This appears to be a soda water bottle that Coca Cola used to put their flavored pop in. Mexia(pronounced Mahaya) did have a Coca Cola bottling company that started sometime around the late teens or early twenties. It is likely they bottled earlier as you mentioned, then picked up a Coca Cola franchise. I have not seen one that had the city up on the shoulder of the bottle. They usually are on the base, but then I haven't seen this particular town on one at all. Maybe, someone has more info. they can share. bottlingco

Yes, I have had that bottle before and also a taller version that is embossed MEXIA, TEX. on the bottom. They were used by the Coca Cola bottling company to bottle flavors other than Coke in the 1920's. They sell for about $20. in nice condition.

Thanks for the info so quick. You guys are awesome. I hope this will impress her enough to take me out to the dump site. She has also found a couple of double eagle flasks in the same area, so the age goes back to the cool age (mid to late 1800's). One other question, more general in scope. How much does a +70% label add to the value of a common bottle, 1890's med or household?
