Children's Comfort from Worchester Mass. Probably a heavily opiated cocktail to keep that noisy kid under control! LOL

ORIGINAL: Digging Up Bottles

Nice finds! I have yet to find a Lightning jar. Gotta love those TOC dumps!

The thing about this lightning jar is it is tiny for a fruit jar...it is smaller than a half pint....I am pretty sure it may have been a salesman sample used for promotional purposes...I would love some more information if anyone knows.

That medicine and others were produced by an interesting con artist woman that went by the alias Madam Yale. I think her real name was Maude Wilson. She was one of the prominent woman medicine sellers of the late 19th century.

I've heard a lot of theories on the miniature lightnings, but I think they were probably made to can something specific. I have the front embossed and the base embossed versions...the front embossed versions in good shape are ~$200+ jars...people like them. Great finds!

Yeah...that one looked like a "QUACK PATENT MED" when I dug it. After researching the bottle I found out they are quite common. I was surprised as this example is the only one I have personally dug.
