Trying to identify these 5 bottles along with 4 others I have posted in the "before 1900's" forum. Not sure if any are in the correct spots just taking a guess for now. The first bottle is the yellow/green glass, it reads at the top "Not to be refilled" and "No deposit". #2 looks like it reads "Plagniol de James" on the glass stamp or seal? it's a small bottle but pretty heavy. #3 Duff Gordon Sherry, I saw the really awesome Duff Gordon Sherry/Medical use bottle when I was digging around for info but only the shared name is as far as I got. #4 maybe a Chianti bottle? Complete guess, it's more aqua blue than green. #5 No idea other than the fact that I love the color and little raised squares. I saw a few poison bottles that looked similar in some ways but still no clue. This doesn't have any language on it that I can see. I have alternative photos to all of these so if it helps to see additional photos just let me know. Thank you all for your time!

Hey Priscilla,

Where are you finding all these bottles? Sure is a case of green whiplash from the 4 you have in Before 1900 to these.

The first one appears to be an early one way beer bottle.

The second is a shoulder sealed French olive oil. Probably the oldest of this lot.

From. Interestingly, the trade mark has been recently resurrected by Unilever.

The Duff Gordon may also be close to the TOC. Did you see the wiki on Sir Cosmo?

You're correct on #4 as chianti.

#5 is ringing no bells with me, but appears to be a Deco era pill bottle.

It is often helpful, especially with the older bottles, to show the whole bottle, along with details of the base and finish, as well as unique features. Noting sizes also helps. The bases often contain maker's marks and sometimes date codes.

Happy bottling.

#1 Is a late 1960's beer bottle. They are very common.

#2 Is very neat, but I have on info on it.

Thanks guys!! Almost all of the bottles came from 1 estate sale, actually my first estate sale and the reason my collection went from 0-40 in a couple of days...this particular person just had bottles stored and really just thrown everywhere in multiple buildings on his property and I just loved how all of the different shapes of bottles in one color looked together...for example the green whiplash your receiving. So I grabbed whatever looked unique to me and went back the following day after I did inventory to get some more blues and greens ect to complete what I wanted to do. Now I have more interest in their history than only color. I'm posting more photos of the bottom of some bottles and other angles since I have them taken already, thanks again
