Hi, everyone ~ I'm new to bottle collecting and the site and so glad to be here. There's so much to learn! So, I was in Virginia City, NV, last weekend and walked into one of my favorite, little antique stores. The gal always has cool bottles and reasonable prices. This time, she had four little jugs mixed in with some of her bottles. They intrigued me, as I hadn't seen them anywhere before, and was fascinated. According to the owner, her bottle source said the jugs were used for perfume. That just didn't make sense to me but, hey, I'm a newbie, so I know nothing. lol Can anyone confirm whether this little gem was used for perfume or something else and how old it might be? It has a very tiny hole on its little "handle", as if there was a cord or string used with it. Since it's probably in the pottery category, there's no pontil but there is a faint imprint of what appears to be "USA" on the bottom. There's also a slightly raised ring around the middle. Thanks in advance for any info anyone might have.

Hi, How little is little?I don't think of perfume for jugs at all. I think of whiskey first just because a lot of people call them that. It's often wrong to call them that though. Vinegar, molasses, and any number of other food type liquids or chemicals are common. There were a lot of companies that just marked their ware with USA but sometimes the maker mark is just to faint to read but there..

hi , your jug was used for men's colon , Mc something , can't remember the name , I do remember my dad had it with his saving stuff , back in the early 1950s . so it go's back that far . Your may go back to the 1940s.

Thank you, Andy! I'm excited to know which men's cologne it held. Now I can do some further research on the brand and learn a little more about it. [:)] Would anyone happen to know how common these jugs are? I could not find any similar to this one on e-Bay or Etsy but there seemed to be plenty of others of the same genre, so I'm thinking they are not limited or rare.
