Great blob, maybe you should post the pic in the same post you made about the bottle, this will become very confusing otherwise. Welcome to the site...Jim

Hi all!
Picked up a blob aqua quart with original closure today embossed " FR. Wehmann - successor to - DORMAN L. ORMSBY - A.B. CO. - 168th ST. East of - AMSTERDAM AVE. - NEW YORK"
On back: : Established 1835 - A.B.C. - BEVERAGES - D.L.O." all inside a fancy emblem.

Wehmann was shot and killed by Ormsby shortly after Wehmann took over the business. I have never seen this one before and was wondering if anyone else has????

Thanks.

Hi Raccoon, I was wondering if you'd want to sell this bottle. Let me know,

For now heres the info I have on the company and pictures of other variants:

3877207_orig.jpg

D.L. Ormsby & Son
Address: 423 W. 16th st.

Dorman L. Ormsby's first address was in use from 1844 to 1860 at 255 W. 16th st. His second was used from 1860 to 1874 at 423 W. 16th st. The company's third address was used from 1876 to the early 1900s at 168th st east of Amsterdam ave. and succeeded by his son. The company closed down in the early 1900s.

Dormann L. Ormsby - A.B. Co.
Address: 168th st. east of Amsterdam ave.

Dormann L. Ormsby changed his brewery locations every 20 years or so and quit the business in 1876. This bottle variant is made by his son. The older variants would have "& Son" in the name. The company went out of business in the early 1900s.

Thanks for the info. I actually have several different Ormsby bottles but have never seen one from Wehmann, his "supposed" successor. From what I know Ormsby never actually acknowledged the transfer of ownership. I have the obituary from Wehmann which is quite interesting. Must have made a couple of bottles early on before he was killed by Ormsby. Can't be many around.

That's correct. Just hit "Reply" and keep on trucking. And a big welcome too!
