Went digging today on an invite and look what i found inside an old broken canner. 4.5 inches long and very cool. This is an 1870-90s dump.

Nice point, Rick. I have never dug one myself. I have a friend who is really into arrowheads, and there are some good hunting locations around here, but it is something that I have not tried yet. Maybe I will some day. ~Jim

Wow, that is awesome ! I am frustrated that I have never ever found one, with all the digging and stream bed walking, and field walking I have done over the years. There were Indian settlements all around where I live. I guess I just have to look harder !

That sure is a nice one, I've found one in a dump and the privy diggers sometimes find them. I can see how one could easily get thrown away by accident, but it seems some of the privy ones were thought to be thrown in on purpose?

It does kinda look knife-like, but that may have been a second use after being refinished, which seems quite evident.

Awesome find!
