Found a nice free blown ink last weekend at a local shop. It's a nice yellow color with a hint of green to it and is pontiled. Can anyone give me an idea of age or value or where it might have been made? It has some wear on the bottom so it has been used for a long time.

That is not a common form so I would be hesitant to venture guesses to try and answer your questions. I've never seen anything like it including my trusty Watt White Ink Bottle collection auction catalog. There are somewhat similar forms in the catalog so it could be very early and quite valuable.
I'll be interested to read what others have to say.

My first thought was 'modern', but I don't know squat about inks, so I hope it's a great one for you HM...

Thanks for the feedback. We have found several references to inks with a somewhat similiar form (especially the top area with the rounded flared lip) but since these were free blown (no mold) there is a great variance in the bottom areas of the bottles and it seems that it was up to the glass blower's imagination as to how they would ultimately look. The similiar ones I have found in auction catalogs and ink books have all been aqua in color. These appear to date from the very early 1800's and possibly even as far back as the late 1700's. Until I know more about the one I have I am certainly not jumping to any conclusions but it sure is a cool looking ink.
