Was up at my grandpas this weekend and found a box of bottles that he dug with me and my cousin a few summers back. I got to the bottom and found a couple of extremely common local 8 oz beers. (IVe dug hundreds of em) One of them didnt look right.

I pulled her out and noticed that fond du lac is mispelled fon du lac. Ive never seen that before. I brought it home and sent an email to THE wisconsin crowntop collector. He just sent me one back saying that mine is the second that hes ever heard of, and he has the first. So i guess this is a pretty rare one [:)]

Cool error bottle, Tony. I only know of two from here. There is a Chero-Cola bottle with LEWISTOWN PA misspelled LEWISTON. Now, there are Lewistons in other states, but none in PA, so it was definitely an error. The one I found is the only one I have ever seen. Unfortunately, it's damaged []. I haven't even seen any others with the correct spelling. The other one is a Lewistown Bottling Works siphon seltzer bottle, also featuring the LEWISTON error. Those also come with the correct spelling, but both types are extremely rare. ~Jim

That is one heck of a find, good thing you were paying close attention to the embossing or this nice piece would still be chilling in that box.
