Good morning Tim nice bottle!! ,
The Lorenz's were quite a famous Pittsburgh based glass making and glass factory owning family early in the 19th century. Here is a Frederick Lorenz Sr flask I picked up recently. This one is 1825 to 1830 and listed as extremely rare by Mckearin. The charted number for this flask is GII-15 Eagle/Cornucopia. The letters FL are seen in the medallion at the bottom of the Eagle side of the flask. The flask is damaged at the top as a small 2/3rds to half inch in size V shaped chip was repaired by Myself and I am happy with the way it turned out. I used a glass shard I recovered from Crowleytown 1855 to 1870 shaped it to fit as best I could and then coated the entire area with resin which was also tinted to match. The Lorenz bottles are Pittsburgh's most collectable bottles congratulations on finding a local bottle. Thanks for posting yours.

Tim that is a great soda bottle and the style matches with my first bottle that started me collecting at the ripe old age of 12 with this one....notice the backwards S in the Word GLOUCESTER this bottle was featured in the book The Glass Gaffers of New Jersey, and Their Creations from 1739 to the Present.

Steve,
Nice repair job. I too have my first bottle and it relates well to the subject of this post as it is another example Andrew Christ's business ventures as he had now partnered with Jacob Mayer. My Grandfather had plowed up this bottle on his small farm in Hanson,KY. My Grandmother noticed that any time I would visit I would always admire it as it sat on the hearth in the kitchen so it was given to me without asking, she instinctively knew it would serve me well. This bottle was produced by A&DHC, can you believe it?, another Pittsburgh glass factory, wow! that place churned out a bunch of glass. I purchased another mallet,I'll send photo of finish in another post.

Tim

I picked up a mallet/porter type today at my wife's Aunts Auction. I met ABN forum member Tom Jansen today at the auction. He is better known as ratzilia. Great day for an out door auction. I look forward to your mallet post Tim.Take care Steve
