Found this base in a corn feild.. It was a town from 1830-70 Stage coach stop,, till the RailRoad came in in 72.. Then they moved the town. Its just open feilds today. Found a flat button from the 1850's with my m.d., a few large cents.. It must cover 4 acres.....

Looks like a cobalt fruit jar lid . Clean it up and see if there is anything written on it. A picture of the underside would be an asset to determine if it is indeed a jar lid. Maybe one of AB-N's finest will move this post to the jar section for further analysis if it is a jar lid.

I was thinking it looked more like an iron pontil mark from the base of a bottle.

This is what I picked up off the ground. Yeah, it sure could have some potential. My map shows about 15 bildings or structures. The town moved in 1872 so for here in Illinois it might go back to 1830's I would love to get permission to dig there! UGGGG. I need to find out who owns it!!!!?
