This is 2 year old Charles “Sonny†Normand smoking a cigar in West Paterson, N.J., in 1933. He supposedly preferred his father’s cigar to a pacifier...

J., came forward proudly . today with Sonny Normand who, as ne approacnes nis second mnnaay, puffs happily at cigars and occasionally gives a corncob pipe a fling. Neither pipe nor cigars have so far given Sonny a fling, however, and West Paterson is pretty proud of him. Photographers and everything. . Smokes at Home According to his parents, Sonny, or Charles Normand. 1r.. first took up cigars while on the lap of his father, Daddy, or Charles Normand, sr. He grabbed for a cigar his father was smoking and cried until his father let him have a puff, thinking to cure him of the idea. He didn't cure, and now strides about the yard of the family house puffing. He also goes now and then for a ride in his perambulator, puffing when opportunity . admits and collecting large crowds. Flicks Ashes Neatly He does not yet bite the end from his cigar before lighting up, Daddy, or Charles Normand, sr., acting as end snipper. Sonny flicks the ash .Very neatly, however. People offer him cigars when calling and he happily accepts.
