I saw an olive green-ish insulator at the flea market,The tag said it was rare(dont half the price tags in flea markets??[8|])It wasnt too old, looked like a Hemingray 42 or something.Do you think it was artificilly colored or could it be rare?
It was prolly the right color and olive insulators are kind of rare but I wouldn't go very high for it. Ebay is loaded with the things in all kinds of colors and they go up and down in price.
It's hard to say with your description. There are dozens of shape and embossing variations found in olive green. Some are tough to find, others not so much.
Brookfield insulators are often found in olive and those aren't terribly rare or valuable. Typical communication styles are worth around 5-15 bucks. If it's actually embossed HEMINGRAY then it's probably a good one. There are some more recent olive-tone insulators from Whitall Tatum and Armstrong, and they're usually in the 5-10 range, perhaps a bit more if you have a strong color.
some clear cd155's can be irradiated to a sort of brown amber color, some of them come in a sort of smoky olive color. Not worth too much, 5-10 as already mentioned...unless it's the irradiated brown amber, i can't tell really... but even if it's either color $8 is pretty high
Sounds like you should ask the seller why he/she would sell a "RARE" item for $8, you should print out the meaning of the word Rare and pass it out to all the dealers at the FM...[8|]
