Hello all, check out this Pontiled bottle I dug. It reads HOUBICANT-CHARDIN (in circular pattern), PARIS, ET, LONDRES. Stands 4-1/2" nice circular pontil scar does have a chip on lip. Anyone that can tell me anything about it I would appreciate it.

Thanks, that's what I thought it was also. I dug this in New Orleans about 2 years ago. I thought it was a great find since it's a French Area to find a Paris bottle. Probably was brought over by immagrants.

It looks similar to Lubin perfumes. They have ground and polished pontil marks but are made later than pontils were typically made.

the French still used the pontil after we had adopted different methods... your bottle looks American though, probably made here and filled with imported perfumes... what was the age of the pit it was dug in?

This was definetly in the pontil era. I had taken 5 pontilled bottles out that hole, only 1 embossed, the rest were 1-unembossed peppersauce, 2 unembossed meds, 1-unembossed whiskey, and this one. Here is a pic of the bottles I took out. Thanks all for the info.

nice finds; ...I have also dug some 1890's range Houbigant perfumes or cologne's, fairly common, but fun to dig regardless.
